Romanian and British Historians on the Contemporary History of Romania

?The papers in this volume are incursions into Romania?s recent and not-so-recent past, but they are not intended solely for the specialist on Romania. They provide lessons about politics, history, memory and image which have a relevance that streches beyond the frontiers of the country. Directly or indirectly, they reflect the influence of the Soviet Union upon Romania. They highlight the intention of the USSR towards Romania during the interwar period of the 20th century, the impact of Soviet domination after the Second World War, and the legacy of almost a half-century of Soviet-imposed Communism upon the country.?
